Pop Up Races, Ireland’s leading race timing and event management company, has today announced Olympian and European 1500m medalist, Ciara Mageean as Brand Ambassador to the company for 2017/2018.
Mageean said: “I’m delighted to be involved with Pop up Races, as runners themselves the founders, Brian and Dave pride themselves on delivery of top quality race management. The Irish Record Holder added: “I hope to encourage and motivate runners who subscribe to the Pop up Races online platform by giving them advice and tips on training, nutrition and injury prevention. I will also give them an insight into my training for this year’s World Championships through my blog.”
Mageean secured the qualification for the IAAF World Track and Field Championships in a highly competitive 1500m at the Diamond League in Rome last Thursday (8th June) running 4:04:49. This was her second fastest ever time over the distance and well inside the needed qualification standard of 4:07:50.
This builds her last year’s success of winning a bronze medal in the 1500m at the European Athletics Championships becoming the only the third ever Irish woman to win a medal at the championships. She also made her Olympic debut at the Rio Games, making it to the semi-final stages.
Brian Conroy, Co – Founder of Pop-up Races said, “Ciara Mageean is one of Ireland’s most promising athletic talents, and Pop Up Races is delighted to announce she has accepted the role of brand ambassador. This partnership will help strengthen our positioning as the leading race timing and event management company in Ireland. Ciara is a great representative for Ireland on the world stage and we look forward to working closely with her on exciting initiatives and plans for 2017 / 2018, which will include giving our subscribers an insight into the life of a top-class athlete through our website and social medial platforms.”
This is a key milestone for Pop Up Races, which is growing from strength-to-strength and is the fastest growing company in this sector. Since it was established in 2014, the company has increased its total number of employees fivefold. The company, which operates in over 23 counties in the Republic of Ireland, will time over 180 races and expects 60,000 runners to cross their finish line this year. It also has plans to expand into the UK market in 2018.
