With over 1,000 registered, and almost 900 toeing the line, the race, now a firm favourite on the running calendar, attracted some of the top talent in the country who came in search of Peugeot Race Series points, cash prizes, pbs or simply to enjoy what is always a magical night in the Marble City.

When the race started at 7:30pm from outside the front of Kilkenny Castle, the nature of the course meant that the first KM was always going to be fast as the pre race favourites moved to the front. The main group contained all the big hitters, Coscoran (Star of the Sea), Mitchell Byrne (Rathfranham), Michael Harty (East Cork), Eoin Everard from host club Kilkenny City Harriers, along with Clonmel duo William Maunsell and David Mansfield and DSD’s Killian Mooney. Runners poured through the narrow streets that were lined with supporters, creating a fantastic atmosphere throughout. The two loop course ended with a short uphill back to the finish, and with 14:14 on the clock, it was pre race favourite Andrew Coscoran who took the win ahead of Byrne in second and Michael Harty in 3rd. Special mention to birthday boy Jack Fenlon (St Abbans) who was first junior (closely followed by Nenaghs Dean Ryan Ellis) in a time of 14:44.

The womens field was again equally as impressive, with late entry Ide Nic Dhomhnaill of West Limerick AC battling it out with Leevales Lizzie Lee and Cheryl Nolan of St Abbans. In the end, this was the top 3, with Nic Dhomhnaill running 15:48, coming just over 30s clear of Lee in second. It was an impressive display from Ide who has shown excellent form yet again.
