Dublin City Harrier Pierre Murchan (14:03) made it two from two in the 2024 Peugeot Race series with an impressive, course record breaking performance around the Streets of Kilkenny. He had 36 seconds to spare over his closest competitor, and in truth, it seemed that it was Murchan V the course record was the main battle of the night.
On another massive night in Kilkenny, this race had sold out over 2 weeks in advance, with 1,000 entries sold. The club could have sold another 500 entries based on the demand seen for late entries. And for those lucky enough to get to the start line, they were once again treated to a fantastically organised and supported event around the marble city.
The womens race proved to be a lot closer than the mens, and in the end it was UCD athlete Fiona McKenna that won (16:46), just 3 seconds ahead of Hannah Steeds of Leevale, with Dypmhna Ryan of Dundrum AC in 3rd.
In the Peugeot Race series team event, Dundrum South Dublin (a familiar winner) were again top of the pile, with Kilkenny City Harriers in second and Clane AC in 3rd.
Next up for the race series is the Bob Heffernan 5k in Enfield in May.
