Bishopstown Lions club are delighted to welcome you to our 1st Annual 5K Charity Run taking place at 11am Sunday 27th of March.

All your entry fee/or proceeds goes to the charities or, if you don’t want to run or walk you can just make a donation by selecting the donate option on the ticket menu.

In aid of:

  • The event will take place in aid of Cardiac Risk for the Young CRY. To support victims of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) from Heart Related Illness in the community

and

  • Blankets of Hope to support people in the community dealing with Cancer diagnosis and treatment
  • We are hosting the event in memory of Judy Costello of Bishopstown and Ballinhassig who died from SADS at a young age

Start & Finish in MTU. Course: MTU – Murphy’s Farm Route (same course as the Rebel Run 5K finishing on the MTU track itself)

Below is some information to help you make the most of the event.

 

  • What time does the race start?
    The race will start at 11:00am sharp.  The start line will be at the Lower Tier Carpark adjacent to the MTU Athletics Track.  Please go to the start line at 10:45am.
  • Where does the race start and finish?
    The race starts at the Lower Tier Carpark adjacent to the MTU Athletics Track and finishes in the MTU Athletics Track adjacent to the Stand.
  • Where do I collect my race number?
    Unless you have already paid to have it posted, race numbers can be collected at registration in the indoor track under the MTU Athletics Track Stand on the morning of the race from 9.30am.
  • Can I enter the race on raceday?
    Entries will be taken between 09:30am and 10:30am on race day at the registration desk under the Stand on MTU Athletics Track.  However in order to make the race day process as efficient as possible we encourage all entrants to register in advance via the Pop Up Races website (www.popupraces.ie)
  • Where can I park?
    There will be ample free parking available MTU Carpark adjacent to the Athletics Track.  Please follow the parking marshalls instructions.

 

  • Will the roads be closed?
    Part of the race route is along Melbourne Road, Model Farm Road and Rossa Avenue.  Partial road closures will be in place for your safety and comfort. Please follow the instructions of the Gardai and race marshals and be mindful that safety is paramount for all involved.

 

  • Will the course be marked?
    The race route will be clearly marked and marshalled along the way and there will be markers at each Kilometer.
  • Are there toilets & showers available?
    No.  There will be no changing rooms or showers available MTU for this event.
  • What prizes will be awarded?
    Prizes will be awarded as follows:
    1st €70; 2nd €50; 3rd €25 – Male and Female
    1st o40 €25; 1st o50 €25; 1st o60 €25 – Male and Female.
    1st Junior €25– Male and Female
  • When and where will the presentations take place?
    Prizes to the top 3 finishers will be presented immediately after the race adjacent to the finish line.  Category prizes will be issued to the winners after the race.
    Due to the ongoing Covid safety measures we will not be having our post-race refreshments. All athletes will receive a drink and some fruit at the finish line.
  • When will the results be available?
    As the race is chip-timed, your result will be available straight away and full results will be available online soon after the race ends on popupraces.ie
