Results from the 2020 Charleville International Half-Marathon.
Step 1: Checking in online
You will be asked to fill out an online COVID questionnaire where you will self-declare your
fitness to attend the race. This questionnaire will also act as an acknowledgement that you
are checking in for the event. This questionnaire will be made available and sent to you via
email at 9pm on Friday September 11 th and will be available until 10pm on Saturday
September 12th.
Traditionally there is a certain amount of room on the day of an event in terms of checking
in, etc. Unfortunately, we will not be in a position to facilitate such changes for this race.
This inflexibility is to minimise the interactions between our officials at the race and to allow
officials to print out the required documentation in their own homes prior to arriving at the
race.
So please.......complete the check in/COVID questionnaire in good time!
Step 2: Arrival and passage to warm up area
Again for your safety and ours, it is our intention to minimise the amount of time that you
spend in the area. To that end we ask that everyone parks in the dedicated Car Park (details
in the race pack attached), checks in and transfers to the warm up zone only via Bakers
Road. The car park is open from 8am and is located in Kerry Foods offices, EIRCODE P56
E367 or https://goo.gl/maps/j2qq6mPmcvg4yqCq7
There is no bag drop off area available.
Your passage through the area is detailed below and, in the diagram.
After entering the car park you will be required to check in and have your digital
temperature taken. While waiting to check in please observe social distancing and
queuing procedures. Masks will be required to be worn from the car until you have
been checked in by officials.
Athletes should report here no later than 30 minutes prior to their race time. This
ensures a steady flow of athletes through the facility.
Race number pick up will also be in the check in area. Pins will be available and will
be sanitised. Officials in this area will record your name, take digital temperature and
verify that you have completed the online COVID declaration. Any athlete with a
temperature above 37.5 degrees will not be allowed to participate.
Athletes can then proceed to the warm up area (it is 1.2kmm to the warm up area
from the car park). The warm up area is from the start line along Railway Road (it is
1.6km from the start line to the Railway Station).
Step 3: Start of race procedures
Athletes will be called to the start line 2 minutes prior to the race start. Athletes are
asked to position themselves on a ‘X’ marked on the road (these have been marked
to allow for social distancing).
Athletes will be asked to move forward 20 seconds before the race is started. This
will minimise the time in close contact.
Step 4: Race
As per Athletic Ireland guidelines we ask that athletes do not spit around the course
during or after the race.
An unmanned water table will be positioned at 3 miles/10 miles (Thomastown
Cross) and at the finish line. We ask that bottles are disposed of in bins provided
where possible.
Step 5: Finish Line & Exiting
Once athletes cross the Finish line there will be water and bananas available.
There will be no medal presentations and results will be published later in the day.
Prize money cheques will be posted to athletes following the race.
Athletes are asked to leave the finish line promptly by following the designated path
back out to St. Josephs Road
Athletes should leave the area without warm-down and return to their car for
departure. Please avoid post-race hugs and high fives etc. as you celebrate.
