The Breffni 3 Province Challenge 2021 is nearly upon us. This year’s event aims to celebrate getting back together after what has been a very tough time throughout the country, and the world. After reaching the €1 million mark in 2018, we are aiming for our second million for our three chosen charities.
The event will bring our participants through the 3 Provinces of Ulster, Connaught and Leinster.
For 13 years, the Breffni Challenge was a run/walk/cycle from Cavan to Arva, via Ballinagh. There were 2 distances available, 20k or 13k. In 2015, with the increase in traffic and for health and safety reasons, the committee took it upon themselves to change the event.
Starting and finishing in Arva, participants can now avail of distances for all abilities. Our Athletics Association of Ireland approved Half Marathon & 10k routes and 5k Family fun run/walk. Also included are the 30k and 100k cycle routes for those who prefer two wheels to two feet!
All our participants will receive a beautiful technical t-shirt and custom designed medal, and will be treated to live music, great food and a Welcome Home Party in the Market Square, Arva. All public health advice will be adhered to.
All funds raised go to three fabulous charities who are vital in the battle against cancer.
*St. Luke’s Oncology Trust delivers treatment and care to those who are fighting a huge variety of cancers. Based in Rathgar, Dublin, St. Luke’s are now responsible for the running of a number of oncology units in different hospitals throughout the capital.
*Breast Cancer Research, based in Galway, are at the forefront of research into prevention, treatment and eradication of one the most prevalent forms of cancer in Ireland.
*Cavan/Monaghan Cancer Home Care Association provide the assistance required by people suffering from this nightmare disease. From medical equipment & bedding, to transport to and from hospital and financial assistance.
