Held as part of the ‘Youghal Festival of Sport’, this is a flat & fast multi-lap course through the Medieval Streets of Youghal and the beautiful scenic Front Strand area. This is the perfect course to set a PB and is an ideal warmup up those training for an Autumn Marathon. We have a unique 2 lap course so your supporters will have plenty of opportunity to watch you as you make your way around and enjoy a fantastic running atmosphere and breathtaking scenery

What time does it start?
The 10k race will start at 9am sharp and the Half Marathon at 11:00am sharp.

Can I enter on the day?
No, there will be absolutely no entries taken on the day of the race.

Where can I see a map of the course?

Both races start on the Brehon Road and finish in Barry’s Lane in front of CMYS Snooker Hall.

When will I get my number?
For those who entered prior to 1st August, numbers have been sent in the post and you should receive by Wednesday 7th.

Number Collection:

For anyone who entered after 1st August, numbers will be available for collection from Youghal Town Hall (100mt from the finish line) from 7:00am on Raceday. Numbers for Overseas entries will also be available for collection from Youghal Town Hall from 7:00am on Raceday.

Bag Drop:

The Town Hall is where athletes can leave bags. There will be someone in attendance in the hall throughout the morning but please be aware, bags are left at your own risk.

What must I do with the chip?
Your chip which is assigned to you and has all your details will be attached to your race number and please note, do not bend or try to fold your number as this could damage your chip and you will not receive a time for your race. Do not carry multiple chips during any part of the race.

Should I wear my number on the front or the back?
Your race number should always be worn on the front, on your singlet/t-shirt, not on your shorts. This will facilitate the reading of the chip at the finish line thus giving you an accurate time.

What happens when I cross the finish line?
Please proceed immediately through the finish tunnel where you will receive your ‘finishers medal’ Do not hang around this area and please use bins to dispose of waste at all times.   LEAVE NO TRACE.

Can I wear an IPod/Mp3 player?
We do not under any circumstances allow our runners to use I-pods or Mp3 players. We have found out over the years that headphone wearers do not hear instructions from our stewards/Gardai and so are safety hazards. With the numbers we have in this race we must look after everyone’s safety

What first aid facilities are available?
On the day of the race we will have a medical jeep and ambulance’s following the race from St. Johns Ambulance. These qualified paramedics will be on hand to attend to any emergency. If you have any difficulty please notify a steward on the course. A doctor will also be on site at the finish area.

Are there toilets by the start?
Portaloo’s will be available at the start line and at the finish line. There will also be Portaloo’s located on the route at mile 2.5, 5.5, 8 & 11.

Water Station:

Water will be located next to the Green Park and can be accessed on both the way out and back on the circuit. This will be at 1.5m & 4.5m for the 10k and 2.5m, 5.5m, 8m & 11m for the Half Marathon. Please be responsible. Please do not litter the town with gel wrappers, bottles etc. Please placeyour litter in the bins available

Pacers:

We have 1:30, 1:40, 1:50 & 2:00 pacers for the Half Marathon

Does this race have an A.A.I. permit?
Yes, this race does have an A.A.I. permit.

What is the prize fund for the race?

For the 10k2,000 and for the Half Marathon €3,000

WHEELCHAIR

Prize giving for both races will take place in Barry’s Lane next to the finish line at the end of the Half Marathon. This will be moved to the nearby Town Hall should the weather not permit.

Prizes will be posted to those who cannot stay on afterwards.

Will there be parking available?
There are many car parks available in the town including Tesco, JYSK & LIDL. Parking will also be available near Youghal Rugby Club & Pobalscoil na Tríonóide, Parking is also available in Millennium Park Industrial Est. and surrounding area. Please note the Front Strand & Claycastle Area are approx. 4km from the start line. It is recommended to approach the town from the Waterford side.

There will be absolutely no parking allowed at the start/finish area or on the Lighthouse hill area. Please refrain from parking on any part of the race route.

Finally, please be aware if you park in the town centre you may not be able to leave until roads reopen at 2pm
